To reach out to potential employers, I prioritised a formal approach in sourcing a placement. This approach included sending out covering letters / emails describing my main goals and ambitions and precisely what I’m looking to do as part of the PES module this year along with attached CV's and links to my writing for Discovery Music for reference (both images to the left detail a sample of my CV along with an example email that I sent out to employers and further links feature below which direct to some of my previous written work for Discovery Music).

I felt that this was the most efficient way to approach potential employers in the field of music journalism as they deal with emails almost every day in their work thus I felt that this approach would have the highest chance of success for a potential placement.

The result of this approach towards sourcing a work experience placement proved to be successful - even though only one employer reached out to me. This sole employer happened to be NME who offered me a place on one of their week-long work experience schemes at their offices down in London. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. After further communication with Hannah (Junior Staff Writer) over the next few weeks of receiving the offer, I managed to arrange my work experience to take place on w/c 21st January for five days. I couldn't wait to get started.
