EMPLOYER EVALUATION
Both of the images featured above this text display my employer's feedback from my work experience placement. As displayed in both images, my feedback was extremely positive which I am very happy with. Furthermore, before I left, the staff mentioned to me strongly that I should keep in touch with them and that if more pitch worthy ideas arise I should fire them an email before also mentioning that I would be welcome to come back down to work at their offices again if I wished to do so. For me, I don't think the feedback could be much more positive than what I received and I am very keen to head back down to work with NME again in the near future to further improve my writing and gain even more knowledge within the music journalism sector.
Looking at the feedback specifically, in relation to point number nine of the form (pictures above text), before finishing my final day of my placement at NME, I was personally thanked and congratulated by every writer that I had been working with over the past week for my hard work during my placement. This really meant a lot to me as beforehand, I had doubts in my abilities as a writer and my overall confidence approaching the role but to hear and see such genuine kindness from all the staff really helped boost my self-confidence in myself and as a writer.
In addition, relating to point number ten on the feedback form, I was happy that I implemented my key strengths that I felt had approaching the placement such as being hard-working and approachable. I felt these skills were important in approaching the role as I wanted to gain the most out of my placement and overall, I feel as though I achieved more than I initially thought was possible. Also, I felt that I definitely learned new skills during my placement such as new writing techniques, research skills and creative skills as mentioned in the feedback where Hannah notes that I worked well at pitching articles that were suitable for NME's demographic. These skills were areas that I had noted needed improving in my skills-set and I am glad to see that as mentioned in employer feedback, I have managed to work on these skills and produce a high standard of work during my placement as a result of doing so.
To conclude, seeing such positive feedback from all the experienced staff I worked with during my placement and to witness the success of two of my own articles being published under NME was more than I could have wished for to get out of the placement. I strongly believe that this positive experience will open many exciting opportunities for my future career in the music industries. Also, I feel that this placement in particular has perhaps been a catalyst towards making me realise that music journalism could be a potential future career choice that isn't too far out of my grasp and with my new writing role as Dundee Venues Editor with The Skinny now underway, I feel that I am on a prosperous path towards achieving my biggest career ambitions.
